Check if you need to register
Most businesses with turnover above ₹20 lakh (₹10 lakh in special category states) must register. E-commerce sellers must register regardless of turnover.

Gather your documents
PAN, proof of business address, bank account details, and identity/address proof of promoters.

Submit Form GST REG-01
File the application on the official GST portal with your documents and OTP verification.

Verification and ARN
You'll receive an Application Reference Number to track your status while it's reviewed.

Receive your GSTIN
Once approved, typically within 7 working days, you get a 15-digit GSTIN and can start issuing GST-compliant invoices.
